Foam is expensive, you'd do better to have the bolster sewn it'll cost less than replacing foam. You can eliminate the flat seams and piping but unless you precisely cut down the bolster foam and glue the foam together you'll be spending more money and the time spent cutting and glue cost just isn't...
Gluing foam together is common practice and you seem to have a good plan.
Sounds like you're on the right track, 580 for all that isn't too bad, you could probably gather them for a bit cheaper but no need to pull your hair out before you start stitching with it. Cutouts are not completely universal but probably 80% of machines will use the same cutout as your juki. You'r...
That very well may be, i certainly don't claim to be the guru regarding all things machine related. Especially pfaff, they aren't real common in my neck of the woods. Here are some manuals, i did read that a certain sub class of the 138 had an adjustment to go from 4.5mm to 6mm zig zag width. Didn't...
Not sure if i am understanding correctly but have some insight and questions. Correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the 138 is a lock stitch zig zag machine. The 4.5 or 6mm should be describing the width of the zig zag. Standard double needle machines have a single needle bar with a double needle se...
I much prefer the bender on the wall, we still do the crowning horizontally though. The crowning die hooks into an old craftsman workmate that can be folded up and put away.
Disclaimer: i'm a power boat guy, blow boaters around here are just a different breed :joy: . We do similar covers on cabin cruisers regularly, i'm not understanding the significance of the foam. They appear just like the cabin door covers we make on power boats, usually for privacy or to keep the r...
Specs list max needle size as 22, typically you'd sew 138 with a 23 but you can get away with a 22 depending on thread choice. It may not like it and may require some tinkering but i think you could get it to do so. Biggest issue i see is that you will get very little thread on the bobbin and be cha...
Knots showing on top suggests either too much top tension or too little bobbin tension. Too large of a needle could exaggerate it too
Don't know that car specifically but yes i'd say you'll have to pull it and the back will need to come off as well as any plastic trim. Never seen a seat that could be done in place but i do more boats than cars. The auto trimmers here may have better insight, i have been wrong before.
Late to the party here, but a lift of some sort may be the only option. If you can't get the curtains to the machine, you'll have to lift the machine up or hand sew. One of those portable sailrite machines would be handy here
If you're doing the whole boat, just need to get close. If it's a piece here and there, it'll be a tall order to match it. You can try to match the inside seam color as you stated but anything you don't replace will be faded and look different. Seabrook and allsport have a purple but then you get in...
I have loads of binders , everything from cheap ebay binders, sailrite, Tennessee Attachments and Atlanta attachments (i was told recently that Atlanta is out of business). Tennessee and Atlanta are in a different league. The sailrite binders are great for straight runs and outside curves but you wi...
Hello there and welcome to the forum. Quite an ambitious project you have there. I'd use staples if they're hidden and decorative tacks if they're visible. Burlap vs canvas is probably just a difference in preference between upholsterers as you stated that it had been re done before. Wood fillers wi...
Audio was pretty poor on my end on all videos but clearly the loop passing around the bobbin is causing the noise and poor stitching as you said it goes away without top thread. Was there a jam or anything that preceded this issue?
I consider those cartridge style tensioners as a consumable. The springs aren't so stout and break from time to time. Good idea to have an extra on hand
So this isn't necessarily a picture of the one he did but another in the restaurant that looks similar? Or one that he did longer than 3 months ago? It does appear that it could have been pulled tighter but there probably other factors involved. Could be that it is a popular booth in the restaurant ...
I expect you'll get many calls now that your work is out there in the wild. Well done.
Welcome fred, well done! If i may...that'll be one hell of a piece of glass and i tend to drop things :joy: . Consider urethane for the table tops. 4 coats, sanding in between. Makes a nice hard, smooth surface with very low drag. The hot knife will however leave scars on the table. It killed me to ...
