Need a bigger needle, at least 22 for 135 thread but i'd want a size 23 or 24 for thicker stuff like you're doing. Bigger needle=less deflection. A 1508 with a servo would probably have the same limitations, both are upholstery class machines and servo's lack low speed torque unless you add a speed ...

Notice how the bobbin case is rattling around? That can't be right, it looks as if the hook is lifting it all out of position and pinching the thread as it comes around the top. I'd look into whatever holds it down/still. On vertical hook industrial machines, there is a little finger/tab that absolu...

Yes it's heat molded, i'd be more inclined to add a seam to it so you know it will lay flat without wrinkles

Clutch motors when turned on will spin at about 2500rpm, as you press the pedal a cork clutch engages the spinning weight to turn the machine. Servo only spins when you press the pedal (quieter) and you can set the max speed to whatever you're comfortable with. For your first industrial and doing au...

I very much appreciate the kind words @BigRig . Not sure where you're located @Feisty but there seem to be a lot of good used machines on the market right now. At least in my area. Stick with the well known brands such as singer, consew, juki, adler and pfaff. They will retain their value and you ca...

Couple options, you can sew the zippers on before and glue the foam separately if it's 2 separate pieces. You can also sew the zipper down flat and then just split the vinyl down the center of the zipper. Leaves a raw edge but zippers are hidden from sight anyway. Could also score/peel away foam fro...

That's a tough one. I can't imagine there being a locking mechanism aside from a manual foot lift lever. I expect you have the air pressure turned off and still stuck? You could try tapping it down. With the spring pressure, it naturally wants to be down so i'd guess either something has it in a bin...

We've used Amann serabond 90 and 135 for a few years now. No issues to report except that we once accidentally ordered serafil and no one liked that (not bonded). Personally i did not care for superior thread, and i felt like it had a larger diameter than equivalent threads of other brands and I've ...

Agreed, reliable, sewquiet, sailrite, consew all have good drives. If you do, i'd reccommed getting a brushless servo with needle positioner. Other than that you could swap for a small pulley and add a speed reducer to your clutch motor. It'll increase the punch as well as slow it down.

@BigRig have to agree, my Adler 267 is the only machine i have that isn't for sale. A well tuned 563 will give it a run though

563 has a larger U bobbin and is a vertical hook (top load). 1541S uses side load M bobbin. Both have their advantages and both killer machines. U bobbins are really nice but horizontal hook machines seem to be less fussy about holding your threads on take off.

The website i quoted has 8' and 16' lengths that are $112 and $169 respectively. If you want cheap, search ebay for the marine led's they are cheap for a reason though. I threw those away

The bobbin winding should finish long before you run out in the machine. I can usually hear a difference when the bobbin runs out
