I choose the 1541 and it was $1500 less than the 2810, my brother just bought a new 2810 on Friday and chose it because it has a longer and higher arm and a bit more foot lift….. which suits the kind of work he is doing. I love my 1541, it’s been a great machine.
Mikes right, that sucks… such nice looking work. I tend to topstitch this sort of work as it takes the stress off the first seam.
Let us know the outcome
As a baseline, the thread on the bottom should slide out of the bobbin case if you can hold the thread and use it gently like a mini yoyo... it should move slightly at the sudden stop and not keep paying out. The top thread should drag heavily with the foot down and it should take just a little forc...
A couple drops of oil periodically help and I’ve noticed the cover over the piston has vibrated loose a couple times causing poor performance.
I don’t bind carpet but I do a lot of binding with lighter fabrics with 1” gross grain, believe me you want the 1 1/4”.... 3/4” would be a struggle
What was the last thing you changed on your machine before this problem started? That thinking has solved a few problems for me. Look your thread path over good and make sure your spool feeds off easy (I’ve got a couple spools that were wound to tight and are unusable) Take some time to clean and oi...
Looking good
I only buy bobbin cases from the manufacturer, if something dos t work right they come good for it.
Wouldn’t a regular pop rivet work?
I made a Velcro strap to hold the safety
For the future... you can safely wind bobbins while you sew, saves a lot of time.
The BeA 71/16-421 stapler is what I recommend. Its costs $197 here in the states on amazon. https://amzn.to/2CVi4r6 $400 for a stapler sounds quite extreme. Where is that price coming from? @BigRig @Revv Up What staple gun are you using there in Canada? I bought a Fasco F1B a few years ago, it’s be...
I’ve had problems with large spools of Sungaurd where the spools are wound to tight and just causes too much friction giving me all kinds of grief. The only cure I have found is to wind it on bobbins and use them to feed the top thread.
I topstitch pretty much double the length than if I was sewing panels together
Only thing I can think of it shorten the feet posts by the same amount, I’d buy a cheap set to experiment with.
pretty complex for a first job, nice work
I have found the best servo motors to buy have a digital controller that allows you to adjust speed and needle position. Mine can be cranked up to the highest speed yet still crawl one stitch at a time when needed. Don’t know if you can add one to your motor but if you can they are well worth it. ht...
At the risk of sounding like a skipping record.... learn how to check your hook timing. A good cleaning and oiling always helps and if you have been sewing through glue or tape a lot check for sticky residue on the needle/ hook assembly. It doesn’t take much to get the timing off if your pounding th...
I had a similar problem the other day, figured out I used mismatched feet and the heights were different causing feed problems, put the proper pairs in and problem solved.
