I do worry about it too. Especially with those HD staples. I staple on edge so I rarely touch it with machine foot. And I have tape on table and machine...
I am hooked to stapler. Cannot do without one :) But seriously. First I had this stapler(I paid $10 not sure whats up with prices) which didn't last at all with upholstery. It constantly jammed, had to clean out after each staple. Finally side hooks just broke off: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...
This is what full work day (or 9hr) looked like. 3 rear headrests and armrest. Take apart, document, templates, scrim foam, sew, assemble.
And I still need to hand stitch all of them which will take 1hr. And clean/steam. How much faster pros do those?
@BigRig I actually thought about it. The more I work with it the more I like it. I feel like there is a "bond" with me and machine now :) I had PFAFF and it was working and everything but for some reason I just didn't care. No "subjective" opinions. I just like this Consew. I al...
This is first one for me. Man it takes so much time!!! So far 2 front seats done along with center console. Some before and after pics. I also replaces bottom foam on drivers seat. And there is color change. Leather was sourced from eBay. It's italian upholstery leather. Now working on rear seat and...
Stupid question... Got a roll from Albrights about a year ago but did not unpack until yesterday night. It's 1/4 with backing.
Today it's still all wrinkled (not good to glue yet)
Should I just wait? How long?
I tried heat gun on piece and seem to do the work..
Same here. I use standard foot for sewing and I made set of feet myself similar to what Cechaflo on YouTube often shows. Basically, big foot without one side and small foot with cut along hole line so I see needle. I use that "custom" foot when I need to do slow work with exact needle posi...
I am on my 3rd steering wheel now :) I did realize that installing heater is what I really want, so I got 2 more cores (without wood) at a good price. Wheels I did I posted on eBay and seems like they will sell. Not much money in it but I am just trying to cover my expenses.. On this wheel I am goin...
Thank you!
Btw, it took 10+hr for this one as well. Maybe I am too slow, but this is what it takes.
I see people doing it differently much quicker but with real lather and baseball stitch it does take time
Second wheel complete. Installed in car, feels really good. I may keep this one and not worry about having wood.
Thanks!
This wheel is for newer LX, I have old one and bought this as temporary/practice. Now I found cheap old wheel which will fit my LX but it's all leather, so it's going to be my second wheel. Should take 6-8hr for this one
Haven't done this before. Didn't work first try, but I got it and those stitches look better than factory!
No, it’s 206RB
@IvanD , that skiver is awesome. What a find that consew is like brand new! What do you love about it? This machine is one of the most popular out there. I had PFAF 1245 and then when I got this one I was moving from one to another and decided that I will post them both for sale so market decides :...
@BigRig Do you know name of this "Mumbai" material? Speaking of my setup, this is current "project" - restoring Skiver, been long time and still working on it. Consew on fully refinished table with new top and servo motor - I love this old machine. https://i.imgur.com/4zJbRDf.jp...
Oh, that one is gone! I sold it once i found "Time Capsule". Guy on craigslist sold "Broken" machine from his grandma. It was Consew 206 RB1 with all original paint, like new. Had broken needle. Now this is my machine. $300 :)
BigRig wrote:@IvanD , I am curious how your machine refurbishing went. What machine are you talking about specifically? :) I'm loosing count of things I'm restoring :)
Enduratex sound too expensive - yes, might as well get leather I inquired Albright and they said they do carry polyurethane but it's not for automotive They also said their Allante line is the best they carry but it's vinyl. I ordered samples, wonder what it feels like Anybody knows rough number how...
Googled a little. All I can find is that material has top layer of polyurethane which makes it soft and even breathable (better than real leather)
Bottom is cotton or polyester
I know what leather is (comes in hides) I know what vinyl is. Comes in yards. It's got fabric-looking backing. It does look like vinyl. On Russian youtube/internet seems like all car upholsterers use material they call "eco-leather". It is NOT leather. And it's coming in yards. But it's pr...
