Recently while at a car museum I noticed that the tufting on early 1900's cars/horseless carriages was done in a manner I'm not familiar with. One side of the area where the tufting button is places has a sewen seam to it. I have attached a picture. What is the pattern that is used. The outer area, where the tufting ends does not show this sewing.
Look closely at the image and you will see the fold over seam to the right of the tuft.
Anyone ever try to recreate this old technique?
Thanks,
