Upper layer 2way stretch vinyl bunching

Have an Ultrafeed LS. Doing vinyl seat recovering for first time. Vinyl is 2 way stretch. Having difficulty keeping upper layer from stretching too much and bunching/getting off distance from lower layer. Using staples to help keep aligned. Is this too much pressure on pressor foot? Is a walking foot but not compound needle machine. Thanks,

Is the presser foot clearing the material when it walks?

Where are you getting the 02way stretch iformation from? It may be standard material and your threadtension must be off.

My terminology may be off- it stretches in horizontal but not vertical.
The foot is clearing the material just fine.
Which way would I adjust thread tension to keep upper layer walking evenly with lower layer? The knots are pulled just to the lower material so I have some room to increase upper tension. Also just thought about this- changed recently to heavier bobbin thread (it was what I had) and this may have inadvertently increased lower bobbin tension.

I had a similar problem when I sewed my first practice pieces, turned out it was "operator error". Sometimes you just have to pull the top or botom piece to stay aligned, that's why witness marks are so important.
