Then I stitch on the marks out lines.
Next I started wrapping the base panel in black vinyl and trim pieces in black perforated vinyl. https://i.imgur.com/szSDmcp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/m3uVzrU.jpg The door armrest/pull was covered in 1/8” foam first then wrapped in black vinyl. https://i.imgur.com/ewYgeNE.jpg Next I cut some 1/4” pink...
Finally parts are covered in the 1/8” landaufoam. All sides of the foam was sanded before applying to have better adhesion to the panel. If you watch Johns videos ( the lucky needle videos) he states the importance of this step. https://i.imgur.com/AFdtUXP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tRaI18i.jpg https:/...
Next I disabled all the pieces to start the building of the piece structures. I elected to use 1/8” landau foam to give it a nice firm feel to the touch. Goal was to make it close as possible to a replica of a modern door panel as possible. But without all the electronics and switches. https://i.img...
Then I wrapped the press grill with black grill cloth for an true oem look

I think I will build another panel in the near future and do a step by step process on photos and video on YouTube. Here I made a arm rest which will attach to the panel. Made and shaped out of 3/4” mdf . W...

Thats a really good deal on the pink sew foam. I don't think you will find it cheaper anywhere online. Plus if you can pick it up locally thats a big bonus in my book. Yeah online couldn’t beat this price. I also got the softer white 1/2” 20 yard scrim roll next to them for $4.50 a yard. Was a blow...
I have my thread wall pretty much setup for now with Amann Serafil thread in 90, 135 and 210 Tex. A few more colors to get later on, but enough for now.
I will be using 1/2” and 1/4” pink scrim foam also like John stated. I just got my rolls the other day. 10 yards of each to start off with. I get mine local for $5.50 yard 1/4” and $7.50 yard 1/2”. Much cheaper then I can get online for even if I bought 20 yards.
Call josh at Relicate, I think he sells quarters or even may have smaller pieces of leather he might laying around that he would sell. I would call if you want smaller then a quarter hide. www.relicate.com
