The only reason I would be tempted to start using prewound bobbins is I hate emptying the end of the used bobbin and I am just too cheap to throw the old bobbin away. It would be nice to toss it and grab another one.

this would make a great practice piece for you. Make a couple small cushions. Do scrim on one not the other and see how you like the differance. Your original plan will work great and make removal very easy if or when the need arrises. One thing to do is install a wire in your listing. Then you can use cord/twine around the wire, through the hole in the plywood and staple it to the bottom. No hog rings needed.

If I am following you correctly and you are taking a 6 1/2 inch template and adding a curve to it, the curve will be longer than 6 1/2”. There is no way it will match up to your rectangular piece.

I realize CNC has ordered his servo but for others who may read this thread, I am very happy with my My Reliable Sew Quiet Servo. I have had it for 9-10 years and have loved using it.

I will use headliner material for upholstery panels occasionally but not for seating areas. I would be afraid it would break down in those applications.
