I've been looking for one I could afford for a while now and that one popped up last week for $1500. I thought that was a great buy.

Got a new toy this past weekend to help with large panels in the trucks! So used to a servo motor this clutch motor machine has me learning all over again!

@John I've been doing pretty good. Just ready for a break lol, been trucking during week and sewing and painting on the weekends. Also I dont back a French seam at all if I'm going to be wrapping a piece. I figure since it will be glued it wont pull apart plus you dont want any bulk when wrapping. Hope this helps.

I've been using material that has no stretch behind my French seams and has worked out pretty good for me. I'm sure there are applications where you may need the seam to stretch but as far as strength I back it with no strech fabric.

Pictures didn't post, but you should be fine resewing the tear, just fold the material to the least seam allowance you can get away with and you will probably never notice any material loss.

What I would is sit in a bolstered seat and see which way the material natural wants to stretch with your weight and position patterns for that direction.

If you angle your patterns it will be in bias and that's a good thing if you want to minimize stretch in one direction, the only problem is that wastes a lot of material and that can get very expensive fast when you're talking about leather. So it's kind of a two edged sword.
