Quite often I will use double sided tape to hold it in place before sewing BUT... make sure the tape ends up shy of the stitch line so when it’s done you dont see tape in the seam.

I use 3/8” tape for 1/2” seam allowance or 1/2” tape fro 5/8” seam allowance

@BigRig Cool, but why wouldn’t you do it for them? seats, quad seats and sled seats are probably my favourite things to do. The camo seat was done in leather the customer supplied and it was THICK which made top stitching tense and difficult, if I had to do it again I would back the seam and French...

@John The covers are my bread and butter, my winter season is defiantly my busiest. It a pretty niche market and I probably the only one out there making them. I’m going to have to find some chipboard if I do another set of visors, I think it having a stiffer edge would solve the problem I had. The...

I’m not familiar with your machine but a quick search and it looks like it’s an old home machine? If so you may be limited to thread size 69 max, along with that the larger thread needs a larger needle.

These were tricky because one was apart and missing parts and they were constructed differently, who’ knows what happened over the years to the old truck. Anyways I ended up mounting the vinyl on to cork sheet because I needed something I could sew through..... the 1/8 cork was a little to thin and ...

Couple weeks ago someone wanted his headliner, door panels and sun visors done for an old Jeep pickup. Never done anything like it before... I was happy with the door panels and the headliner but not so much for the sun visors

My Yakumo likes a bigger needle for 92 thread, I’d try a 20 or 22. Some machines are really fussy when it comes to needles so I’d suggest trying a few in different sizes till you find it’s sweet spot

I would think it could always be sewn on by hand through the old holes, not fun but doable in a pinch.

I’d double check the voltage ratings on that fast servo motors nameplate incase you were sent the wrong one. I love my servo motor, made my Juki way more manageable.

There are vinyls made for this type of application, one of my customers has a gym and another is our local hospital and clinic. The vinyls gets wiped down often with a harsh chemical, my supplier sold me gym and hospital rated vinyl.

There’s good YouTube videos that show how to set the timing on different models and it’s really easy once you have done it a couple times. Usually the instructions go something like this: Set stitch length to 0 Rotate crank by hand counterclockwise wise till the needle is at bottom dead center and r...

Unfortunately Weldbond landau glue is not available up here in the ice floes (Canada) so..... my wholesale supplier has a spray glue for headliners they had formulated (I was real skeptical) so I did a test of vinyl to foam and when testing it actually failed at the foam and not the glue joint. I’m doing a headliner in a customers truck and don’t anticipate doing many more of them.... so I don’t want to buy a spray set up , is there any decent aresol glues that will not fail or should I be looking for a contact cement and roll it on?
