I use an air grinder with a 3 inch 80 grit pad. It works really well. I have Matco and snap-on air grinders but they are expensive. You can try steam but or sanding them out before you wrap them. But honestly you just have to be really careful not to damage the foam before it gets wrapped.

so the problem is that when you wrap that piece with closed cell and then leather outside of the car its not in the correct shape. What it would do is remove the leather and foam and redo the panel while is installed in the car youll have to take it out to finish up the back side but the face will b...

Ive never had a situation where I needed to splice closed cell together but if i did I would glue the edges together and then carefully sand the seam nice an flat before covering it.

Haha yeah bed sheets will work :joy: That's pretty resourceful. Muslin is just a cheep light weight cloth material. Its nothing special.

Vicstric is spot on there. Only thing I do differently is once I get it rough cut with the knife I come back and smooth and shape the foam with a 3 inch 80 grit disk on my air grinder. Then I like to glue a piece of muslin over the repair area to add a little more strength to the repair.

I use size 92 on carpet. I use size 92 for basically everything unless I want a thicker top stitch for decoration.
