I have a line on a used Consew 226 but the Lucky Needle machine buying guide recommends the 226R. I'm looking to understand the difference and cannot find much online in initial searches, so since I'm newly registered here, thought I'd take the advice to "use the Forum!"

Is it accurate the 226 is just an earlier model than the 226R yet they both have reverse and a true walking foot?

Thank you in advance!

@Johntcasper , keep in mind the 226 will need a little help moving thicker material through. It does not climb the best over 1/2 sew foam and welt cord junctions. Overall a great sewing machine small bobbin though if you have not purchased and looking to evade these issues keep looking.

@BigRig , the adler 744 looks like a chain stitch machine. Singer 144w204 is a lock stitch walking foot 20" arm and tall work space. Singer sounds like a sweet machine. Honestly couldn't find much on the adler other than a German user manual but the diagrams look like chain stitch to me
