Consew 206RB-5 Looping Problem

I have a 206RB-5. The top stitch is fine, bottom stitch has a 1" loop every 16-25 stitches or so. EXCEPT when I sew slowly. The normal bottom stitches in the pictures are when I sew about half speed. No looping problems.

From the top, stitch lines 1, 4 and 6 were done at a slow speed and are normal, no loops. Lines 2, 3 and 5 were done at a fast speed.

The loops you see in the 2nd picture are on the bobbin side. I pulled a few up, they are normally an inch away from their stitch and pinned down by the stitch 7 or 8 stitches away from the stitch they started with.

I have the machine geared down with smaller pulley out of the motor, so it is not running 2000+ stitches. Probably about half that.

I use Tenara thread exclusively and never had a problem with it. I sew only Sunbrella marine fabric, up to 10 layers when binding crosses at a corner and over a topstitch.

Put in a new bobbin case, new needle, blew crud out of the hook and other places around the needle, and I oil often. Didn't help. Has run flawlessly for years, then this happened.

I’ve messed with bobbin case tension as well as top tension and nothing seems to make a difference.

I am kind of spoiled as I have two Consew machines - one using black thread and one with clear. Never have to change thread for different projects, just change machine.

rvtailors.com will show 95% of what we sew and sell on eBay.

Appreciate any ideas. Thanks - John

I second what Adam said. I was going to say check the gap and the timing of where the hook kisses the indent on the needle on the up stroke. However because of how big that Loop is, I feel the same way Adam does that the release lever may have moved just a smidge and isn't bringing the bobbin case to the halfway point to release the thread when it should.

This is the best and most complete tutorial on adjusting your machine. It's long but there is a table of contents so you can skip to the section you are interested in.
