Does anyone use an overlocker machine as well as a walking foot machine, when they are doing automotive upholstery. Would it make any part of the process easier than just a straight stitch machine?

I use one if using fabric that starts to fray. I just finished some dining chairs, and had to use overlocker on the fabric. Makes the job easier and looks neater if the customer sees the underneath. I had to do 8o feet of piping and same amount of side pieces along with the seat which would be the same as the other pieces.

I have an inexpensive one, three thread, just to overlock fabric that falls apart when cut. Unless you buy a very expensive one you will be unlikely to attach foam to fabric with it as these machines are generally designed for garment weight fabric.
