As a background. I have done some basic Marine Top repairs on my own boat. I might be over my head in this task.
I’m looking at replacing a Bimini Top with a Skip Tower with side enclosures. It’s a smaller vessel and I wish to keep the weight down for stability purposes. Therefore maybe a Sunbrella Top instead of a Fiberglas top. I’ve seen a laced in top which requires a second railing around the top edge. I would like to get rid of that rail as well. I’ve heard of upholsters using a zipper to accomplish that upper connection. Any help appreciated.

Hi Flip,
I'm having a hard time understanding your question.

I would recommend checking out the youtube channel " Boat Canvas University" and possibly "sailrite" They might have a video on exactly what your are looking for.

Hey flip, I have seen guys use the zipper method on t-tops before. Not sure what A skip tower is but maybe it will work for that also.
Basically make a pocket on all 4 sides to go around the tubing and zip underneath.
Hope this helps. Post up some pics if you can.
