Hi, amateur here but am getting moderately proficient with my Singer 132K6 (c.1943 build!). I am getting into boat covers and am looking to put Bias binding on them - my question is around available attachments. The OEM Bias binder is very expensive so wondering if anyone has used/is using a cheaper alternative?

You can buy binders of ebay that are reasonably priced, but you need to understand how many folds you want meaning raw edge or finish edge and the width of material that you need to feed it.

I have loads of binders , everything from cheap ebay binders, sailrite, Tennessee Attachments and Atlanta attachments (i was told recently that Atlanta is out of business). Tennessee and Atlanta are in a different league. The sailrite binders are great for straight runs and outside curves but you will struggle with inside curves. Right angle binders are more versatile allowing inside curves. Tennessee Attachment would be a right angle, you tell them the machine it is to be used on, send material samples and they build to suit guaranteeing it to work for your exact material choice. You can get right angle binders from ebay but the quality difference is staggering. My last ebay binder, aside from needing a fair bit of engineering to make it work to begin with, lasted 2 weeks before it fell apart and had to be completely re soldered. You can do a lot with a sailrite binder and gives good bang for the buck. Personally, 3 or 400 dollars for a Tennessee bindersl is worth every penny and return on investment is incredibly fast.
