I'm reupholstering some spectator chairs and I want to make sure I understand the dimensions for the foam. The chairs look like the attached image.

The chair back is my main concern - the foam was stapled to the top of the back and then pulled forward and stapled at the bottom, then the entire back was covered with fabric. The back is gently curved, as well. When I try to measure the old foam it looks to be about 13" x 20.25" x 2.5" or so; the 20.25" width is matches my seat cushion foam width.

The chair seat has a wood seat pan with dimensions 19.25" x 18.5". I plan to cut the foam to 20.25" x 19.5" to allow the foam to fill out the cushion. Is this still a good idea with this style of chair?
