@TedP, Just be careful when you are making patterns from different sources. You want to be sure you have good alignment marks that match up well. If you end up with panels that are 1/2" different lengths or incorrect panels left to right you are not going to have the results you want. I think I would either use the old cover or pattern the whole job from scratch.

As said earlier, if you go to great lengths to flatten the stretched panels, you are going to end up with either oversized or distorted panels and likely will end up with a loose or ill fitting cover. I personally prefer to make new patterns unless the old cover is in pretty good shape.

Yes, in my current re-upholstering project, I plan on making most of my templates.
