The Pfaff 1245 I bought is missing the front half of the cover over the bobbin drive gears. This cover is what retains the grease normally around the gears. The 1245 originally came with a self oiling system and a different type of cover but many were converted with Pfaff cover to the type shown by the back half of the cover in the pic. These covers are held in place with small screws and have the sole purpose of keeping the grease from being slung around.
I need an new cover or at least the front half of the cover. It is a different piece that what the 545 uses although it looks similar.
Thanks, Ron H

As another option, you could lube it with a moly paste. That is the same grease used for motorcycle drive gears so it won't be thrown off as the gear spins, that way you could run without a cover and not worry about the grease not staying in place. It's a little pricey but a small tube will last you a lifetime. The gears on a sewing machine really don't spin that fast or have that much of a load on them compared to the drive train of a motorcycle so it would be a great option to finding a case cover.
